Quote handoff dossier

Prepare your file for a print quote.

Collect model measurements and job requirements for a provider you choose. This page does not send a request or generate a price.

Your quote brief Measurements, quantity, material, and finish Add the intended use, deadline, and acceptance requirements.

This page is a preparation route. It does not create, transmit, price, or place a print order.

Scope of the checklist

Know what to collect—and what the provider must decide.

This page is a preparation guide. It does not store these answers, assemble a packet, contact a provider, request a quote, or create an order.

Record for the handoff

  • STL or 3MF intake, measured model facts, and geometry findings
  • Quantity, material, finish, use case, and deadline context
  • Known repairs, failed attempts, constraints, and acceptance rules

Provider confirms

  • Final process, machine, orientation, and material suitability
  • Price, production schedule, delivery, and commercial terms
  • Achievable tolerances, quality criteria, and job acceptance

One ordered path

From uncertain file to a handoff checklist.

Each step answers a different question. Review the evidence, record decisions in your normal business system, then send the file and context through the channel you choose.

  1. 01

    Check

    Measure the actual model

Upload the STL or supported 3MF to Score and review coordinate bounds, measured mesh findings, and stated limits. STL contains no authoritative unit, so confirm the intended physical scale separately.

    Score the file
  2. 02

    Prepare

    Record unresolved production inputs

Before pricing, identify the exact revision, intended scale, printer, profile, orientation, supports, material, tolerances, finish, quantity, and acceptance tests still requiring provider review.

    Work in Print Studio
  3. 03

    Handoff

    Send decisions, not assumptions

Pair the file evidence with quantity, material, finish, tolerance, use case, and delivery expectations.

Production brief register

Record the inputs that can change the quote.

You do not need a longer message. Record the relevant facts so another person can assess them.

  • Model facts Exact file and revision, units, measured dimensions, file format, and quantity.
  • Production intent Preferred process, material, color, visible faces, finish, post-processing, and whether substitutions are allowed.
  • Risk context Score findings, repairs, constraints, and failed attempts.
  • Fit and service conditions Critical dimensions and tolerances, mating parts, loads, temperature, environment, and end use.
  • Acceptance and delivery Quality checks, deadline, delivery destination, packing needs, and what must be true before production begins.
  • Authorization Confirm that the requester may supply the file and authorize the requested manufacturing work.

This guide identifies file evidence and handoff questions. You record and send the actual brief; the print provider confirms pricing, process, tolerances, and production acceptance.

The fastest useful next step

Start with the file—not a vague request.

Run the model through Print Score first. If it needs work, export the exact revision you intend to hand off, then have the provider confirm its units, slicer settings, and production requirements.
